ABOUT PURVI G. PATEL
Purvi G. Patel is a partner in the Litigation Department of Morrison & Foerster’s Los Angeles office and a member of the firm’s Class Action + Mass Torts and Data Security + Privacy practice groups. Ms. Patel’s practice includes a broad range of complex litigation in federal and state court and she advises clients in a variety of commercial litigation matters, with a focus on consumer class action defense. She represents, among others, retailers, banks, manufacturers, and insurers in litigation involving contract disputes, unfair competition, false advertising, consumer fraud, data security, and privacy. Ms. Patel has also developed expertise advising clients regarding the impact of various California laws and regulations on existing and proposed business practices, including the collection and use of personal information under the State’s Song-Beverly Credit Card Act. Before joining Morrison & Foerster, Ms. Patel served as a law clerk to the Hon. Consuelo B. Marshall, U.S. District Court for the Central District of California. Prior to her clerkship, she was an associate at McDermott Will & Emery LLP in Chicago. After graduating from the University of Chicago with a B.A, with honors, in history, philosophy, and social studies of science and medicine, Ms. Patel received her J.D, magna cum laude, from Loyola University Chicago School of Law. During law school, she was a senior member of the Loyola Law Journal and was named, in 2005, Loyola’s National Association of Women Lawyers’ Outstanding Law Student. In addition to clerking for Judge Marshall and briefly clerking for the Hon. Blanche M. Manning, U.S. District Court, Northern District of Illinois, Ms. Patel served as an extern to the Hon. Ann Claire Williams of the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals.
