Gopi (IISER Pune, India)I am a multidisciplinary chemist with a specialization in the synthesis, design, and characterization of antimicrobial peptides (AMPs), which have uses in biotechnology, infectious disease treatment, and drug development. My research integrates organic chemistry, biomechanics, and microbiology to create novel peptide-based treatments for infections that are resistant to many drugs.With hands-on expertise in:1) Peptide synthesis & modification (solid-phase synthesis, purification, structural optimization).2) Biophysical and biochemical characterization (spectroscopy, chromatography, MIC assays, binding studies).3) Mechanism of action studies to elucidate peptide-membrane and peptide-protein interactions.4) Collaborative research at the interface of chemistry and life sciences.I am motivated by the challenge of using molecular innovation to overcome antibiotic resistance. By bringing peptide-based treatments from the laboratory to practical medicinal uses, I hope to contribute to the development of the next wave of antimicrobial tactics.Always willing to work collaboratively, share expertise, and form industry-academia partnerships in the fields of drug development, antimicrobial research, and peptide chemistry.
