As part of BGC’s geohazard management program, I helped draft proposals for midstream companies to evaluate geohazards along pipelines in US. I participated in desktop studies, baseline field inspections, and routine inspections of geohazards along linear infrastructures. I also mapped a landslide in North Dakota intersecting a pipeline, designed a drilling and instrumentation program to investigate such landslide, and logged the suggested borings. The collected information was utilized to model the pipeline’s strain and evaluate options for mitigating the landslide.As part of BGC’s mining services, I conducted construction monitoring of tailings dams to assess if the dams were being constructed per issued technical specifications. I also oversaw the construction of a test fill. The findings from the test fill were used to recommend a minimum number of compaction passes for a lift thickness requested by the client.
