About Paul Ting
Physician (board-certified anesthesiologist) trained at the University of Miami School of Medicine. After serving as an Active Duty anesthesiologist in the United States Air Force, practiced at the University of Virginia Health System where I was involved in clinical care and resident education for ten years. During my tenure there, I served as co-Medical Director of the Outpatient Surgery Center. Subsequently, I entered private practice and served as Medical Director of the Martha Jefferson Outpatient Surgery Center. I was part of a team that launched a new Outpatient Surgery Center from the ground up and participated in development of policies and procedures, obtaining initial accreditation and certification, quality assurance, process improvement, peer review, etc.I have completed the International Structural Acupuncture Course for Physicians at Harvard Medical School offered through the Department of Medicine at the Brigham and Women\'s Hospital as well as additional advanced courses offered by the program.I maintain an interest in the application of technology in medicine. My experience includes the development of internet medical content and the establishment and maintenance of multiple websites. One of the original contributors to About.com, where I administered and wrote all of the content for the Anesthesiology site. Also a contributor and section editor for GASNet, the first and largest anesthesiology website (now defunct). In addition, I have contributed medical content and consulted for a number of other websites and patient education publications. Comfortable with HTML, certified in Apple Mac OS X Server Administration and Linux. In addition to my medical practice, I am a freelance writer and provide consulting services in the wine, cider, spirits, and sake/shochu space. In my role as a consultant, in addition to primary duties, I provide social media consulting and basic tech support for a handful of small companies and organizations.Specialties: Medicine, Anesthesiology, Medical Acupuncture, Wine/Winemaking, Sake, Writing, Social Media, Technology
