ABOUT PAULETTA S. THOMPSON
As a Ron Edmonds Scholar, Dr. Pauletta Spence Thompson, has dedicated her professional career to transforming high needs schools and districts. Her career as a scholar-practitioner in education spans more than 17 years with both teaching and leadership experience in public and non-profit K-12 education. Her professional foci have been urban education, innovative school design, and data-driven decision making. Pauletta has extensive experience serving as a district and school-level administrator in urban environments such as Baltimore City Schools, Durham Public Schools, Rockdale County Schools, and Cumberland County Public Schools. In the last 5+ years, she has been helping design and implement innovative and transformative district programs to ensure the best possible outcomes for students, teachers, and school and organizational leaders. She currently serves as a Director for Granville County Public Schools, where she is responsible for the strategic direction and leadership of the Federal Programs, Grants, Equity, Choice Programs, and ESL departments. As the district’s chief equity officer, she supports the district’s commitment to create and execute equitable policies and practices. Research Interests: School and district transformation, Implementation Science, Principal Preparation, Cultural Responsiveness, and Organizational Change. Her life passion is empowering girls, women, and educators to succeed at their highest potential.
