The very technology we build to try and help people often creates more barriers. After becoming a family doctor, it didn\'t take long to realize the system wasn\'t built to allow me to help people at scale.So I started building, starting with tackling health misinformation on social media (Polyarticular) and then to challeging the status quo on medical records and building Canada\'s first cloud-based EMR (InputHealth). Three companies, one exit, and tens of thousands of patient lives touched later, I\'m more convinced than ever that advancing technology often tends to exclude people who need support the most. Technology is best when invisible, when it is truly undifferentiated from magic.That\'s what I\'m doing at nymble health. The vast majority of people living with metabolic disorders like obesity get medications but zero behavioral support. They are not setup to succeed. Most mobile apps were never designed for people who need support the most, or for sustained, long-term support. We took a different approach - meeting people where they already are (iMessage, WhatsApp, RCS, or API) with clinically-backed support that actually sticks. Our goal is to deliver pragmatic, cost-effective and intelligent systems that produce outcomes that matter at scale.I also host North of Patient, a podcast striving to expand our thinking and find positive narratives on the future of health and the human experience via convos with sci-fi authors, musicians, builders and other creatives.
