Developer of the Indiana University Financial Literacy program that launched in 2012 as part of IU\'s Affordability Initiative. Specific contributions to the program have been overseeing the development of the MoneySmarts website (moneysmarts.iu.edu), authoring of several financial literacy lessons and blog posts, creating the Indiana University Team, a Peer Educator program which enables students to get financial assistance from other trained students, overseeing the production of 3 for-credit courses in Personal Finance for IU students, as well as a Financial Literacy course designed for a First Year Seminar, and developing several workshops/presentations for students at each of IU\'s 7 campuses, totaling over students. Creator of Personal Finance podcast for College Students,\"How Not to Move Back in With Your Parents,\" which has now recorded 4 seasons. Co-Chair of the National Summit on Collegiate Financial Wellness, which focuses on bringing together higher education institutions to unite them in their efforts to build a financial wellness program at their insitition. Specializations: Customizing Financial Literacy information for college students, creating calculators in Excel for personal finance usage, managing the development of a large, multi-location project, co-collaborating with others to maximize creativity.

   Higher Education Financial Wellness Alliance

   As the co-founder and Executive Director of the Higher Education Financial Wellness Alliance, I lead a national network of over 400 institutions committed to advancing student success through financial wellness. HEFWA emerged from the success of the National Summit on Collegiate Financial Wellness (2014–2016) and the Higher Education Financial Wellness Summit (2017–present), which I have directed for over a decade. The Summit now draws 330+ attendees annually from all 50 states and is widely regarded as the premier event in the field.In this role, I oversee all aspects of the organization’s year-round operations, including strategic planning, programming, marketing, membership engagement, and development. I’ve negotiated contracts with major higher education systems and associations—including the California Community College System and the University of North Carolina System—positioning HEFWA as a leading provider of financial education services.A key milestone under my leadership was the acquisition and relaunch of CashCourse, a financial education platform now serving over 4.2 million students. I also spearheaded its integration into learning management systems, expanding access to critical financial tools.Through HEFWA, I’ve helped shape the national conversation around financial wellness in higher education—moving beyond traditional financial literacy to address affordability, basic needs, and systemic barriers to degree completion. Our work continues to influence institutional policy and practice, helping students build financial capability and resilience.
