About Priya Prakash

I am a cellular and molecular neuroscientist interested in understanding how glial cells maintain brain health and how their dysfunction contributes to neurodegeneration. I am currently a postdoctoral fellow at the Institute for Translational Neuroscience at NYU Grossman School of Medicine, where I study reactive astrocytes in Alzheimer’s disease and oligodendrocyte dysfunction in the rare movement disorder X-linked Dystonia Parkinsonism. I completed my PhD in Chemistry at Purdue University, where I studied how lipid dysregulation drives microglial dysfunction in Alzheimer’s disease.
