ABOUT JASON POWELL

Professor Jason Powell PhD, FHEA, FCMI is Chief Executive Officer and President of Manchester Institute of Learning and Excellence (MILE) after serving as Provost, Chief Academic Officer & Executive Dean. He is a social gerontologist and executive leader, earning him a reputation as an exceptional administrator, integrity-led and a strong advocate of academic excellence. He is also Adjunct Professor at McMaster University. Formerly, Provost & Chief Academic Officer of Crescent College Birmingham, Professor of Social Gerontology & Associate Dean of Health & Social Care, Staffordshire University, Professor of Social Gerontology, University of Chester, Professor of Social Gerontology and Associate Dean of Health & Life Sciences, Coventry University, Professor of Social Justice at MMU, Professor of Community Leadership & Head of Social Sciences, UCLan, Associate Dean of Faculty of Humanities & Social Sciences/Reader in Sociology, University of Liverpool & Associate Head of School/Director of Admissions, University of Salford. He holds a First Class Honours degree, MA & PhD in Social Gerontology. His research interests are in social gerontology with a focus on ageing and health & social care. His research is world leading and been funded by 50+ research & enterprise grants including EU Commission, ESF & ERDF. Jason is extensively published including over 79 academic books & several hundred interdisciplinary refereed journal articles, eg, Canadian Journal of Sociology, Scandinavian Journal of Caring Sciences, Journal of Applied Gerontology & Journal of Aging & Social Policy. He is Editor-in-Chief, Illness, Crisis & Loss (SAGE) and Series Editor of International Aging (Springer). He has H-Index of 127 with citations. Professor Powell was a member of ESRC & UKRI Peer College and member of the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Fellowships Panel. He has been a Trustee of the AQA. He has been visiting Professor in US, China, Asia, S.Africa, Australia, EU & Canada. He is also currently Distinguished Honorary Professor of the Centre for Humanitarian, Education & Social Studies at MSU & Adjunct Professor at Gandaki University. Jason was awarded an Honorary Fellow by University of Liverpool in 2013, an elected Academician of Academy of Urbanism & Companion of SBP. He is Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute (FCMI), Fellow of the Institute of Administrative Management; & Fellow of Advance HE.
