ABOUT ANTONINA PEREIRA

I am a values-driven Higher Education Leader with over a decade of executive experience in Strategic Leadership, Governance, and Inclusive Academic Innovation. As Executive Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities at the University of Chichester, I lead the School of Law, Business and Psychology and the School of Education, Social Sciences and Humanities and hold significant cross-university responsibilities in education and research.My leadership has contributed to major institutional achievements, including increased student retention and attainment, the expansion of inclusive, future-facing curricula, and our University’s achievement of Gold rating in the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF). I have played a pivotal role in institutional strategy, financial governance, and academic policy, serving on the Senior Leadership Team and as a member of the University’s Board of Governors.A champion of employability and innovation, I have led the co-creation of apprenticeship programmes with industry partners, embedded entrepreneurship across disciplines, and fostered academic cultures rooted in belonging, student partnership, and educational gain.As Professor of Research Methods, Neuropsychology, and Neuroscience, I have secured over €4 million in research funding and led internationally recognised, policy-shaping projects in health, education, and social care. I have also driven global academic partnerships that enhance knowledge exchange and research-led education. My work, funded by leading organisations such as the European Regional Development Fund, the Woodger Trust, the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology or the Bial Foundation, has advanced understanding in neuropsychology, neuroscience, research methods and public health.Above all, I am passionate about education as a force for societal transformation. I am committed to widening participation, empowering diverse communities, and aligning university impact with the UN Sustainable Development Goals. I thrive on driving transformative change, advancing the frontiers of knowledge, and building partnerships that address pressing societal challenges.
