Rashmi Baluja Tandon is an architect, academician, researcher, and Founding Partner of AE Studio, with over two decades of experience spanning architectural practice, teaching, and institutional leadership.She holds a Master’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning from CEPT University and a Doctorate from the School of Planning and Architecture (SPA), Delhi. Her doctoral research, “Framework for Quality in Architectural Education for Undergraduate Programs in India,” reflects her long-standing commitment to strengthening academic standards, pedagogy, and quality assurance in architectural education.Rashmi’s academic career spans over 21 years at Vastukala Academy, Delhi, where she rose from Lecturer to Professor and Coordinator (Academics). Her contributions include curriculum development, academic governance, faculty mentoring, and studio-based teaching, having mentored over a thousand architecture students. In recognition of her impact on architectural education, she received the Best Teacher Award (2024) from the A3 Foundation, Chandigarh.As Founding Partner of AE Studio, Rashmi plays a pivotal role in shaping the studio’s philosophy of “Conscious Architecture,” which places people, context, and responsibility at the core of design. Her role encompasses strategic leadership, design review, project monitoring, and quality control, ensuring conceptual clarity and ethical, human-centric outcomes. Her work consistently emphasizes people’s architecture that responds to social, cultural, and environmental realities.Her professional practice runs parallel to her academic and research pursuits, creating a strong integration of theory and practice.She has recently assumed the role of Deputy Director, Training and Research Centre (TRC), Delhi, under the Council of Architecture, Ministry of Education, Government of India. In this national-level position, she contributes to faculty development, research, academic capacity building, and policy support, working towards strengthening architectural education across the country.Rooted in gratitude and guided by purpose, Rashmi continues to serve the profession and the nation by shaping thoughtful architecture and future-ready architectural education.
