ABOUT MICHAEL MAY
Michael is a Professor em. of Computer Sciences and Facility Management (FM) at the University of Applied Sciences HTW Berlin. Additionally, he is a Senior Researcher and Research Manager at the Society for the Advancement of Applied Computer Science (GFaI) in Berlin. Before assuming his position at HTW he was the head of the FM research department at an IT institute in Berlin and with the German Ministry of Research and Technology. He earned his PhD in Mathematics (Functional analysis in hydrodynamics) in 1981 and his Habilitation in Information Technology (Layout automation) in 1990 at the Berlin Academy of Sciences. His current research is related to FM knowledge management, game-based learning, facility layout automation, digitalisation and IT integration, augmented reality and sustainability. He is the editor and author of several books, among them the award winning \"The Facility Manager\'s Guide to Information Technology\", the “CAFM-Handbuch” and \"BIM in Real Estate Operations (Springer 2023). He was a board member (director digitalisation) of the German Facility Management Association GEFMA (20••••20). He is a member of IFMA’s Technology Community (ITC) and was founder and chair (20••••21) of GEFMA’s Digitalisation (former CAFM) workgroup. He represents GEFMA at the international level, e.g. at IFMA and EuroFM, where he was appointed the first German EuroFM Ambassador. From 2020 he takes on the new role of GEFMA\'s Ambassador International Relations and Cooperation.
