ABOUT ANDREAS METZNER-SZIGETH
Andreas Metzner-Szigeth is Full Professor in sociology of culture and communication with a focus on design and communication for eco-social transformation at the Faculty of Design and Art of the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano, Italy.He studied social sciences, biology and philosophy and received his PhD in 1991 with a thesis onsocio-ecological systems theory. In he obtained his habilitation with a project on interdisciplinary risk research and communication. Apart from the achievements in his extensive academic career, he acquired proficiency in consulting activities and evaluation procedures as an entrepreneur and executive manager.Andreas has held several Visiting Professorships and positions as Senior Researcher in various academic institutions, European research networks and international projects.He is particularly interested in issues that affect the interplay between science, economy, politics and the public.His activities at the Free University of Bolzano-Bozen:From January 2018 to December 2024 he was the coordinator of the macro research area ENABLE - Design and Art Competences, Material Culture and Human Development.From March 2019 to August 2020 he was a member of the University\'s standing committee on Research Ethics.He gained his vast experience in consulting and evaluation procedures focusing on various fields of Sustainable Development as Full Professor of Sustainability Science (Bochum University of Applied Sciences) as well as Executive Manager and Consultant (Episteme Consulting -EC, Muenster) and Holder of the Visiting Chair for Studies in Science, Technology and Society,(STS, University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) in San Sebastian, Spain.
