About Noel Casey

My innate curiosity about how the world works led me to become a scientist and helps me to thrive in meeting the challenges of multiple, concurrent projects involving customers and other stakeholders. My success in managing laboratories and individual research projects has been based not only on my technical skills and knowledge. The real keys have been my ability to: • Establish trust and respect with investigators (customers), team members (experts), internal management and vendors• Engage all stakeholders and motivate them to collaborate despite their divergent interests• Adapt to shifting priorities and other technical and non-technical challenges on the fly• Drive projects to completion and ensure success for allOn the technical side, my work has included developing innovative, novel uses of state-of-the-art analytical instrumentation for elemental analysis. I have helped my employers choose the best equipment and methods for their needs, negotiated favorable terms with vendors, and trained scientists and technicians on their use. As a researcher I have been a key contributor to many published studies and conference presentations, some of which received both national and international acclaim.Technical• Experimental design and method development• Atomic Spectroscopy • High-Resolution Sector Field Magnetic and Quadrupole Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS), ICP-Optical Emission Spectrometry (ICP- OES), Atomic Absorption (AA) • Flow injection, chromatography and capillary electrophoresis • High throughput microvolume autosamplers • Sample preparation and elemental/metal analysis of inorganic, organic, nanoparticle and biological samples following USP 232, 233, 2232, EPA SW-846 guidelines• Elemental Imaging • Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS) • Laser Ablation (ns-LA, fs-LA) • XRFM Beamline• Molecular Imaging • Raman, FTIR
