About Priyanka Shukla

Completed my PhD at the University of Pittsburgh in Chemical Engineering. My areas of research include studying the properties of molecules and reactions using density functional theory (DFT), Machine Learning (ML) techniques and sophisticated tools such as the FLOSIC method. FLOSIC method allows atomistic modeling of materials and compounds without effect of self-interaction error, which is present in existing density functional theory. My other expertise includes adsorption study of molecules in metal organic frameworks and modeling of flexible frameworks using classical molecular dynamics and grand canonical monte carlo simulations. I was also a Masters\'s Thesis student in chemical engineering at the University of Pittsburgh. My research focused on developing a material which can be used to destroy chemical warfare agents. I did my summer internship at Idaho National Laboratory which gave me exposure to working in the laboratory independently and with colleagues. I completed my Bachelors\'s in chemical engineering from Ahmedabad University and a gold medalist from the UDCT Ahmedabad Alumni Association. I have worked as a Teaching Assistant in my undergraduate which enhanced my interpersonal skills. I also learned to prioritize the work being a technical assistant, teaching assistant and undergraduate research project student simultaneously. Apart from this, I have also served as a volunteer for Volunteers for Bright Inspiration for three years which developed my soft skills tremendously.I hope that my past experience of working in dynamic situations will help to mold my career towards success.
