As the Payroll and Benefits Coordinator at Gem Health Care Group Ltd, I oversee full-cycle payroll for 300+ employees, including union, non-union, salaried, and hourly staff. Using Sage Payroll, I ensure the timely and accurate processing of bi-weekly payroll while adhering to provincial and federal legislation, union agreements, and company policies.Key responsibilities and achievements include:Managing payroll processing for 300+ employees, including calculating regular wages, overtime, bonuses, and deductions (taxes, CPP, EI, union dues), and submitting remittances on time.Implementing and overseeing the Staff Schedule Care time-tracking system, integrated with Sage Payroll to ensure accurate data transfer, reducing errors and enhancing payroll efficiency.Administering employee benefits and pension plans, managing enrollments and changes due to retirement, termination, resignation, or leaves of absence.Maintaining accurate time bank accruals, including vacation, sick leave, seniority, and statutory holiday pay.Preparing Records of Employment (ROEs) and final pay for terminated employees and managing manual cheques when necessary.Responding promptly to employee inquiries regarding payroll and benefits, ensuring clear communication and quick resolution.Assisting with the preparation of Ministry reports, year-end entries, and payroll reconciliations, ensuring compliance with tax laws and regulatory filings.Through the use of Sage Payroll and ACCPAC, I streamline payroll operations, reduce errors, and increase overall productivity. My role is vital in ensuring payroll and benefits are processed with precision and in line with legal requirements, while also providing exceptional service to employees.
