About Priyanka Puranik

Biotechnologist by education, a writer by passion, I strongly believe that anything is possible if one puts one\'s heart to it. I hold an Integrated Masters of Science (MSc) degree in Biotechnology from Pune University, India. Over the five years of my Integrated Masters, I had the opportunity to work on different projects in reputed research labs in India. It equipped me with hands-on experience and valuable knowledge predominantly in the fields of Animal cell culture, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Nanotechnology and Cancer Biology, among many others. For my masters thesis, I synthesized 3D multicellular tumor spheroids from mammalian cancer cell lines, and studied their growth, in-vitro. Alongside my masters, I also worked on my German language skills and achieved a Goethe Zertifikat C1 level in the German language from Goethe Institute, Pune in 2019. I continued to develop my skills further when I got an opportunity to spend close to 15 months (3 semesters) in Germany as a student in the Masters in Molecular Biotechnology program of School of Life Sciences, Technical University of Munich (TUM), a German-taught program. This international experience enriched me in more ways than one. I returned to India not only with enhanced German language skills (academic and communicative) than I left with, but also a new-found sense of self, heightened intercultural understanding, broadened horizon of thinking and a new way of life, overall. I am now looking into exploring the field of Scientific writing and editing, Science Communication and/or Journalism to foster my love for Science and Writing, put together.
