ABOUT PRIYA KHANCHANDANI
Priya Khanchandani MA (Cantab) MA (RCA) FRSA, specialises in the dissemination of ideas about contemporary design and South Asian culture through writing, curating and arts management. She is the Design Museum’s Head of Curatorial + Interpretation. A Royal College of Art graduate with Distinction, with four years’ experience working at the Victoria and Albert Museum, in April 2018 Priya was appointed Deputy Editor of Icon, a monthly magazine of design and architecture, before being promoted to Editor. She was shortlisted for the Fiona Macpherson Editor of the Year award 2020 and was a finalist in the Asian Media Awards 2023.Priya is an accomplished curator, writer and commentator. She has contributed to publications like Frieze, The Guardian, The Observer, The Sunday Times and Wallpaper*. She has spoken at museums and cultural institutions across the UK and chaired discussions at the V&A, the Design Museum and for brands she believes in such as Lego. Her work has been covered in publications like The Evening Standard, the Guardian and Monocle and as a commentator she has appeared on BBC Newsnight and BBC Radio 4’s Front Row.In her previous role as Head of Arts Programmes for the British Council in India, Priya curated the Reimagine arts programme, working with 22 UK cultural organisations on realising new and exciting work in India, overseeing a network across nine British Council offices. She also formed part of a core team that conceived and launched the Year of Culture between the UK and India.Priya has a versatile skill set and pursued her desire to work in the cultural sector after a dynamic initial career as a lawyer.
