At Amazon, I am working as a Data Engineer within the Payment Services team, contributing to multiple backend data initiatives that supported merchant billing, compliance, and system health.I came in with no AWS background, but quickly ramped up and took ownership of pipelines that processed high-volume transactional data. My work involved designing and migrating ETL workflows using AWS Glue (PySpark and Python Shell), handling data privacy requirements across RDS databases, and improving observability through monitoring.I collaborated closely with legal, product, and engineering teams to meet regulatory requirements, reduce production incidents, and improve system performance — all while learning and adapting to Amazon’s internal tools and best practices.Tools/Tech: AWS Glue, PySpark, RDS, DMS, Lambda, CloudWatch, EventBridgeImpact: Improved ETL reliability, supported secure handling of PII data, and helped reduce DB incidents to zero through automation and monitoring.
