About Priya C.
Content director and public historian with over seventeen years of experience at a national nonprofit focusing on historical and cultural preservation. Today, as the Associate Director of Content at the National Trust for Historic Preservation, I provide strategic direction and production related to digital content (text, audio, and video) for the organization’s key audiences via SavingPlaces.org and Preservation Leadership Forum, the digital platform for preservation leaders. I’ve developed digital and in-person educational programs in the form of webinars and in-person trainings designed for professional audiences. As both a historian and storyteller, I believe it is my role to preserve, protect, and interpret the past—by ensuring the stories of underrepresented communities are included and centered as part of the broader American story. Through that lens, I explore the intersections of the past with the present and how the human experience is captured in art, music, literature, theatre, and dance in both the real and fictional world. A few years ago, I published a children\'s book called \"The Heart of the River\" about a young girl\'s quest to find wonder. More information on the book is available at more about my work as a historian, writer, public speaker in my profile below and at banner image is from a recent trip to Delphi in Greece. It is a detail view of the polygonal wall where manumitted slaves would record that they had either served long enough or purchased their freedom. They recorded this at Delphi at the Temple of Apollo, because—according to my guide—freedom wasn\'t fully achieved without the the god\'s blessing. This image is from September 2022. Experience
Associate Director of Content
National Trust for Historic Preservation
Jan 2020 — Present · Washington, DC, US
Starting in the Fall of 2019 my role at the National Trust for Historic Preservation expanded to include storytelling on the main site of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, I lead production of content—text, photography, audio, video— from ideation to execution, connected to key priorities for the organization. I am also responsible for identifying, cultivating, and managing author relationships (both internal and external). This new role includes increased responsibility for content marketing, working with a broader team to share digital content using social media and email. I lead content development and strategy for Preservation Leadership Forum, the professional membership program for the National Trust. This includes supporting the infrastructure of forum.savingplaces.org as webmaster and reporting and tracking of analytics. I continue, in collaboration with subject matter experts and colleagues, to lead development of focused content for preservation professionals in the form of stories, webinars, and resource pages based on relevant, timely issues. Since Spring 2020, I also serve as the community manager for the online community, Forum Connect. As of January 2021, I am the chair of an internal team focused on Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Access (DEIA) issues within the organization.
