Associated with the chemicals plant; formerly Flint Hills Resources Port Arthur LLC. Member of the site’s Process Control and Automation Team. Site support and Subject Matter Expert (SME) for process control applications, from base layer controls to advanced process control (APC). Selected Highlights: In the implementation stages of an Advanced Regulatory Control scheme to control the site’s cracking furnaces’ induced draft fans within their air constraints. Development and execution support for multiple small projects involving reconfiguring and commissioning control schemes on distillation towers, exchangers, Tank lineups, Flare lineups within the units. Team member in the application of Deep Learning Process Control on different section of the site’s olefins production unit. Daily analysis activities include APC performance assessments, control scheme assessments, control loop performance, alarm and event assessments, identifying procedural automation and upset event mitigation opportunities. Regular realization activities include maintaining the uptime of APC applications and making necessary adjustments to improve/sustain performance and reliability, development and implementation of operational and process optimization and mitigation strategies, control loop tuning and alarm maintenance. Supporting the reestablishment of the site’s alarm management philosophy, and the development of supporting administrative systems to culminate with alarm rationalization and dynamic-alarming strategies. Developing strategies to assess control loop performance using PI AF. Supporting the initial establishment of Honeywell CPM to monitor BPCS IPLs from the site PHAs. Performing functional safety assessments for changes that involve or impact SIS systems and applications. Establishing a working framework to deploy State Based Control in one of the site’s units.
