1) Led and optimized design of Subsonic Vane Axial Fan from 1D to 3D including profiling and 3D CFD analysis. Aspect ratio, solidity, curvature, flow path, row spacing and blade metal angles explored and optimized on 3D level using response surface optimization method in Ansys Workbench.2) Successfully accomplished the task of improving the static efficiency of Regal Rexnord’s current Vane Axial Fan design. After undergoing a steep learning curve to familiarize with ANSYS Fluent and CFX tools and GUI, increased the static efficiency of the Vane Axial Fan by ~ 10 % and lowered broadband noise levels by ~10dB in a time span of 3 months.3) Developed an automation framework for parametric design and optimization of axial fan (rotor and stator) from 1D to 3D flow module in Ansys. Response surface optimization was used for optimizing blade design parameters exploring 25 plus designs with 120 design parameters which significantly improved the static efficiency of the fan and duct system.4) The design iterations done to improve the performance of the Vane Axial fan led to 5 novel ideas. These ideas were internally vetted by the team before being submitted as Provisional Patents. Currently under review by the patent attorney.
