ABOUT PRISCILA NABUCO

I’m a Legal Substances Coordinator with Interior Health and a Research Assistant at UBC Okanagan, where my work sits at the intersection of public health, community engagement, and innovative substance use prevention strategies. With a background rooted in mental health and substance use—particularly among youth—I’ve developed a strong focus on emerging nicotine products like vaping and oral pouches, and how they impact young people. I’m currently leading a pilot initiative for an alternative-to-suspension program in partnership with local schools, designed to support youth through education rather than punishment. I’m also pursuing a Master’s in Interdisciplinary Studies at UBC Okanagan, where my research focuses on Community Engagement, Social Change, and Equity. I\'m driven by curiosity, innovation, and a genuine desire to see communities thrive. I believe in taking bold yet thoughtful steps, listening deeply, and staying adaptable—especially when navigating complex health challenges. My strengths lie in knowledge translation, tech-savviness, and a “figure-it-out” attitude. I thrive when I’m learning, collaborating, and building something that can make a real impact.
