About Preston Pruett

I am a Senior in the Haslam College of Business at The University of Tennessee at Knoxville studying Supply Chain Management with a concentration in business analytics. I chose to pursue supply chain management because of the difficulties faced from price increases and shortages in my work experience, such as painting with a shortage of respirators from the pandemic. My goal as a student is to use my strengths from my work experience to learn more about problems faced in the supply chain and transitioning my work ethic into a data based career. One of my strengths that is most applicable to the supply chain and logistics industry is my ability to constantly search for areas of improvement while also overcoming unexpected obstacles that may arise. My management skills root from my work experience with carpentry and painting in the cabinetry business, where I was able to cut a day off production by suggesting a new painting process. I also changed operations daily to comply with supply shortages such as suggesting MDF wood rather than hardwood to clients. This kept clients satisfied by decreasing prices drastically while also maintaining a quality finish. My professional goals are to use my management skills to improve business operations and to build an environment around my co-workers and I that is comfortable with adapting.
