About Preeti Sharma
Senior finance leader with 18+ years of experience partnering with executive teams to drive strategic finance, M&A, and finance operations transformation across SaaS, education, and knowledge-based organizations.I specialize in building disciplined, insight-driven finance functions that support growth, margin expansion, and long-term sustainability. My work spans FP & A, deal strategy, product profitability, operating model design, and large-scale transformation— integrating acquisitions, modernizing reporting, and delivering sustained margin improvement through data-driven decision-making and AI-enabled insights. My professional journey began as an entrepreneur in Delhi, India, where I founded one of the region’s early rehab centers. With a small loan and a big vision, I learned firsthand the fundamentals of building a business—customer trust, financial discipline, vendor negotiation, and team leadership. The business became profitable within two years and was later exited at a 10x valuation. That experience sparked a lifelong focus on finance and strategy. I pursued an MBA, followed by work in U.S. telecom equity research supporting Deutsche Bank, where I strengthened my analytical rigor and global perspective. After relocating to the U.S, I completed CFA Levels I & II while taking a deliberate career pause to raise my family and explore early-stage business ventures—experiences that reinforced resilience and adaptability.I later re-entered corporate leadership at Macmillan Learning, progressing from Financial Analyst to Senior Director of Finance. Over six years, I supported seven acquisitions, implemented enterprise systems including SAP, led SaaS and physical product portfolios, and delivered material cost and process improvements. In 2019, I joined John Wiley & Sons to help scale and modernize global finance operations. My work has included supporting EdTech and Research acquisitions, establishing cross-functional Deal Desk frameworks, and leading product-level profitability initiatives that delivered a 5% margin improvement in year one, with continued upside.Currently, advising small businesses on cash optimization, profit-first decisions, and funding growth without repeated capital infusions. Open to right full-time role in corporate or PE-backed environments.Outside of work, I serve on the board of our township soccer club and the PTA executive committee, continuing my commitment to community leadership. I’m also a lifelong learner who values balance and creativity—whether through travel, painting, or tackling the next challenge.
