About Pratyush Patra
A farmer wanted his son to help him. The son was more interested in playing football and studying literature. So, when a half-chance presented itself, he took a leap of faith. He left a nondescript village in West Bengal and boarded a train to the national capital, Delhi. A college dropout. With little money. Without knowing Hindi. One thing that he didn\'t lack though, was courage. He found work in the printing-packaging industry. He worked overtime for years to support his large family. That son is my father. So, when compared to his, my struggles are nothing.I studied at two well-known schools in NCR—DAV Public School, Faridabad, and Gyan Bharati School, Saket. I graduated from Maharaja Agrasen College, Delhi University, one of the only two DU colleges offering co-ed to those applying for a bachelor\'s degree in Journalism. Was that a stroke of luck? Well, getting through the Indian Institute of Mass Communication for my PGD should have settled that debate.Professional life began with The Telegraph, Bhubaneswar. Big city dreams brought me to Times of India, Delhi. Hunt for more creative liberty ended with Deccan Chronicle (Asian Age). Having worked in three renowned newspapers in the country, it was time to switch to the digital medium. At this point, I may sound like a brand freak because my next employer was Microsoft Network. After nine amazing years in journalism, the eagerness to learn something new saw me enter the field of corporate communications. And once again, destiny played its part beautifully. And here I am, currently working as Manager - Marketing and Comms - at Deloitte USI. I support the Global Analyst Relations with content creation and distribution, both internally and externally. While I am proficient in working on all editions of MS Office, Quark Xpress, and Photoshop, my true passion lies in writing blogs, identifying and reporting trends, telling stories of resilience, ideating about better workspaces, advocating improved quality of life, and interviewing the people who make an impact that matters. My managers, past and present, are most likely to call me self-driven, creative, and hardworking.I am an ambivert with a sense of humor. I love reviewing movies and theatre productions. I am a part-time poet and comic. I have even acted in a regional movie directed by a national-award-winning filmmaker. My dream is to always provide my family with a comfortable life. If you think I did/am doing great, it\'s because of them.Let\'s connect over a cup of chai, someday!
