The National Rail and Transportation Institute (NRTI), a vision of the Honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is India’s first university focused on transport-related education, multidisciplinary research, and training. A Deemed to be University under the de Novo category, NRTI is specifically established to create a resource pool of best-in-class professionals for the railway and transportation sector. B.Tech programme of NRTI consists of three streams, B.Tech in Rail Infrastructure Engineering (RIE) and B.Tech in Rail Systems and Communication Engineering (RSCE) and B.Tech in Mechanical and Rail Engineering (MRE). Here the curriculum is designed in such a way that along with the regular skills that are being expected by the industries students also get a research-oriented mindset which is the seed of innovation resulting as a tree of fruits which are needed to be consumed by the organizations in order to make them grow. From the first year itself, students get exposure to international level studies as NRTI collaborates with the world’s top and premium universities to teach the different courses. In the final year, students from both branches are offered courses that were specifically taught to trainee IES officers of Indian Railways in centralised training centres, which are highly specific, critical, and high-level skills-inducing, consequently making them high-class engineers for railways and other transportation domains. Many field visits during the course and internships at the end of every academic year in reputed organisations are providing huge support in enhancing the skills of the students in a multidimensional way, which makes them capable of doing their jobs smartly and efficiently, and consequently, their employability grows exponentially.
