WORK HISTORY
India ER Lead Executive Director @Wells Fargo
Bangalore, IN
Wells Fargo, one of the world’s largest and oldest banks, was looking to expand in India and that is when they hired me to build the ER function. I sensed it as an opportunity to leverage my experience in the domain and play on a bigger ground. I built a 6-member team of experienced ER and EAP professionals and currently lead them to provide ER/EAP counsel and assistance to employees and all levels of management. In my role, I collaborate with other Centers of Excellence such as Internal Investigation, HR Business Partners, and the Legal team during various phases of the disciplinary proceedings. We also partner with internal and external legal counsel for various employment matters while providing consultation and support to various ER committees in the likes of Internal Committee, Grievance Redressal Committee, and Disciplinary Committee.Creating awareness of employee relations, Code of Conduct, and ethics of the organization in an attempt to enable people managers to deal with baseline ER issues independently is an ongoing attempt.

ABOUT PRASANTH P NAIR
No two days are alike in the Employee Relations function, and if you like such challenges, it is the team to be in. In the 20 +years of HR experience and specifically in the recent 15 years of leadership roles in ER, there has been hardly a dull day at work! After my masters in personnel management, I began my career in the manufacturing sector which I believe did a world of good to inculcate patience, diligence, and perseverance in me apart from the immense learning in Industrial relations. My next assignment was with the hospitality sector before moving to Manipal group to manage the HR team for the Medi records division. It is with the Hinduja group in 2005 that I first got the opportunity to build a team in ER from the ground up in the ITES sector. When I moved on after 6 years, the strength of the organization had doubled, and ER team had 8 members across different locations. I replicated this success at a larger scale at ANZ in 2011 and moved on to Wells Fargo after 4 years. In the current role, I lead the ER practice for India at Wells Fargo and my team provides ER/EAP counsel and assistance to 25K plus staff members across 3 locations Employee Relations focus on individuals and their relationships with one another and the organization. A discipline in HR where one has to be thorough on internal policies and constant changes around in the industry. A high level of integrity has to be maintained as your decisions and recommendations impact an individual’s career as well as the reputation of the organization. Organizational culture is an underlying factor for effective ER, and I find that earning stakeholder confidence, being cognizant of the regional sensitivities, and maintaining open communication channels are the common ingredients for the success of any ER professional. Uniting diverse agendas to a common goal and harnessing strategic and operational drivers to deliver results is both challenging and rewarding as an ER leader ER as a function is still in its evolutionary journey and I am happy to play my role in making it more enabling (than merely consultative), educating, and empowering people managers to address their baseline people issues efficiently. Post pandemic changes in the employee-employer relationship and organizations increasingly focusing on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) brings the spotlight on solid ER practices! When I am not at work, you would mostly catch me clicking some pics or participating in theater. I will be happy to exchange notes with like-minded professionals or share my thoughts on Employee Relations
