About Prasanta Kumar Ghosh

I am a physicist, researcher, and academic leader with over 19 years of experience across advanced materials, nanoelectronics, sensor technologies, and applied physics. I currently serve as Assistant Professor of Physics at MIT–World Peace University, Pune, India. I hold a Ph.D. in Physics from Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Aurangabad (Maharashtra), where I also completed my M.Sc. and B.Sc. in Physics with a specialization in Electronics. My academic experience spans 12 years of teaching at the PG and UG levels. Over the past 19 years, my research has evolved across domains of organic/inorganic - functional nanomaterials, field-effect transistors and chemical sensing applications.I have authored and co-authored 48 research papers, including 18 SCOPUS-indexed journal articles, and have actively reviewed more than 150 research manuscripts for high-impact journals. I also hold advisory roles on the editorial boards of Materials Research Express and Nanotechnology by IOP Science Publishing.I have been recognized internationally for research quality and peer-review contributions, including Lifetime “Trusted Reviewer” recognition by IOP Science Publishing and Top Peer Reviewer in Materials Science (Publons-a division of Web of Science). My passion lies equally in teaching and hands-on innovation. I have developed and taught a diverse set of courses ranging from Engineering Physics and Electronics to Semiconductor Device Fabrication, Material Characterization and Research Methodology, catering to Ph.D, M.Sc, B.Sc, and B.Tech. students. Beyond research and teaching, I have been involved in mentoring, academic auditing, curriculum design, and and Placement Coordinator. In my academic leadership roles, I have coordinated industry partnerships, Ph.D. programs, placements, and research governance, with a strong focus on connecting students and researchers to core science/technology roles. I have led institution-building and innovation initiatives, including the establishment of Innovation & Entrepreneurship Cells, Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Cells, and IIT Bombay–affiliated Virtual Labs. A notable milestone in my research journey was establishing a Semiconductor Chip Fabrication Lab (for my doctoral research) at Dr. B. A. M. University in 2009 under DST funding. At the time, it was among the rare academic facilities in India capable of submicron-level chip fabrication. I continue to be deeply engaged in low-cost automation and indigenous instrumentation development to bridge research with practical application.
