About Prapti Mittal

Documentary Director, Producer I am a documentary producer and director currently residing in Mumbai. I am particularly interested in directing and producing documentary content around themes of marginalised groups like tribal communities, socially stigmatised groups and economically emaciated groups. Among them, I like to bring out stories of courage, passion and inspiration in an effort to uplift, educate and raise awareness. My latest work has been the docu-series called Indian Baseball Dreams on Disney+ Hotstar released in Nov 2023. I have just finished filming an independent documentary in the Naxalite-prone region of Chhattisgarh, the film is currently under post-production. During my time in Barcelona, I worked on a documentary about “sin papeles” (illegal immigrants “without papers” to work). I also directed a docu-series for University of Illinois and Subsistence Marketplaces Initiative exploring how subsistence entrepreneurs engage in business activities. My company, Studio Blackline, is a nonfiction specialist production house, focused not only on producing content but also on providing support and skill development to Indian nonfiction. Our latest work has been in collaboration with Royal Enfield and UNESCO, under which we produced 100+ short films documenting the Intangible Cultural Heritage of North Eastern Indian tribes. Director -\"Nuestro Muro\"(2019)- Televised on Beteve (Barcelona TV), this documentary explored the human connections built through a shared artistic vision in the illegal migrant community. Docu-series for University of Illinois, Urbana-Champagna - Shining a light on groundbreaking research and inspiring stories within the academic world. Producer, Kudumbashree NRO - Recently, I had the privilege of producing a 12-part documentary series documenting their commendable social work in rural entrepreneurship.
