Milbotix is the award-winning care-tech start-up behind SmartSocks™ - an innovative line of sock-based wearables designed for people with dementia and other conditions which affect communication. Recognising pain and anxiety early can improve wellbeing and prevent behavioural escalations. The Milbotix SmartSocks™ alert dementia carers to early signs of distress and are being developed with funding from Alzheimer’s Society, the UK’s leading dementia charity. Socks are more familiar than wrist-worn devices and less likely to be rejected. SmartSocks™ embed comfortable sensors and artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms developed through academic research at the Bristol Robotics Laboratory, the UK’s largest multidisciplinary robotics research facility.
