About Pradyumna Kalagi

As a kid, there were only two things that could hold my attention — cars and books. I’d often skip class to lose myself in literature at the library or watch Fifth Gear the night before an exam. To many, those interests didn’t seem to lead anywhere. But that quiet curiosity, nurtured through novels, car shows, and documentaries, shaped everything that came next. My first full-time job at Autocar India brought two lifelong passions together. I wrote over 200 pieces — news, features, branded content — covering launches, writing deep dives, and reporting events. It was fast, collaborative, and taught me to write with both clarity and intent. At Fifth Estate, I stepped into agency work — assisting in communication across sectors, from internal campaigns and events to social media and brand storytelling. More than anything, I learnt what it means to write with purpose: to ask better questions, shift tone with context, and still hold on to meaning. Currently, I help strategise content at MATTER, ensuring consistency across product, brand, and internal communication touchpoints. Along the way, I’ve grown increasingly curious about how communication actually works — inside organisations, across cultures, and in complex spaces. I don’t have all the answers, but I find myself paying closer attention — to tone, to structure, to what’s left unsaid. Outside work, I love reading The New Yorker and haven’t quite outgrown my habit of watching documentaries, just for fun! Got a story to tell? I’m all ears.
