Given that the CWDB’s overarching goal is to advance economic equity in a climate resilient future, I have primary responsibility for: leading a research team of Ph.D. trained social scientists to manage contracted third-party evaluations for different federal and state grant funded programs; responding to requests from leadership to provide summary data and evidence on process and success metrics; and charting out a plan for developing precise measures for job quality, equity, and climate resiliency. I also lead CAAL-Skills program that receives and combines workforce, education, and social services data from seven separate state agencies and eleven different programs to produce a legislative mandated workforce metrics dashboard report and an impact analysis study. In addition to research, I lead a state partnerships team that is responsible for fostering required and strategic partnerships with other state agencies around cross-connecting workforce development issues, opportunities, and programs. Also, I am responsible to make sure that the state partnerships team through its interaction with state agencies, other stakeholders and key informants, promotes the vision for high road jobs and economy. I lead a staff of policy and legislative analysts, along with staff in other state agencies, to implement the California State Workforce Development Plan in accordance to the federal Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) Act. The overall goal is to effectively develop new workforce development policy in order to develop and implement CWDB legislative priorities. As Deputy Director, I will be also interact directly with other states about CWDB research, policy and legislation.
