ABOUT JOHN J. CHEW
I am most recently a lexicographer, leveraging the skills that I have acquired over a lifetime of obsession with words and philology into the ongoing project that is the new Canadian English Dictionary.I am a Scrabble consultant: I lend the expertise that I have developed since 1993 as a tournament player, organizer, software developer and association administrator to a long list of companies worldwide who need to know how to run a successful event or player association.Pre-pandemic, I spent 3 months each non-pandemic year travelling around the world organizing and webcasting major championships (5~6-figure budgets); I prefer to work remotely now where possible. I develop and maintain \'tsh\', a popular software application for tournament management; and am the CEO of the North American SCRABBLE Players Association. I can do everything needed to organize a weeklong event for people, either hands-on or by delegation.I am a freelance full-stack software developer, working on diverse AJAX applications for Scrabble events, election news, and private financial exchanges. I enjoy coding in Perl, but do also work in JavaScript, MySQL, PHP, C and C++.I am a published mathematician specializing in meta-Fibonacci sequences. I have maintained the Chew genealogy online since 1991.I do frequent media interviews about Scrabble events, and my photos are published by major outlets.I like typography and book design, and run a micro publishing house, poslfit press. I have designed and published a book by noted fantasy author Michelle Sagara West, an official Scrabble word reference, and several unofficial word lists. I am a translator and interpreter, into English or Japanese from English, Japanese, French, and to a lesser extent, German, Spanish, Latin and classical Greek.I get a lot of requests to connect on LinkedIn. I\'m happy to accept them, as long as I know who you are. If you don\'t include a personal note reminding me of our connection, I will search my Gmail archives for your name. If I don\'t find you there, I will not accept your connection.
