Led project entitled “Synthesis of membranes to separate gaseous components and evaluate the sustainability using LCA” sponsored by ONGC energy centre and Prime Minister fellow.•The project is divided into two parts viz scale up of oxygen generation reaction wherein oxygen is by-product and separation of gaseous components - hydrogen and oxygen from its unreacted reactants using membranes. The work also determined the sustainability via life cycle analysis through GaBi software. Set up a membrane separation unit for executing similar studies. Built a network of instrumentation suppliers in gaseous separation. Conducted numerous experiments and quality analyses in compliance with industrial standards.• Developed inorganic membranes and tested synthesized membranes performance for hydrogen separation from corrosive gases viz. H2/HCl, O2/Cl2 gas mixtures.• Participated in training at CGCRI in Kolkata to comprehend the performance evaluation of ceramic membranes.• Meticulously examined membrane separation unit Of CGCRI for gaseous separations, assessed several subsystems and prepared effective project strategy within defined timeframes.• Equipped 15 undergraduate and master students with robust training and continuous guidance on learning Life cycle analysis (LCA), including LCA concepts and principles, the procedure of LCA according to ISO viz four phases, life cycle inventory, life cycle impact assessment methods and interpretation, and practical experience of LCA via GaBi Software.
