ABOUT PONORA ANG

Ponora Ang is a partner at Fasken and the national Co-Leader of Asia Pacific Group. Ponora is manufacturing, product liability and real estate lawyer. He has pleaded before various levels of Québec courts in numerous complex cases, several of which attracted the attention of the Canadian press.In addition to his commercial litigation practice, Ponora is well known to companies in the Asia-Pacific region for his legal and strategic advice regarding investment, acquisition and implementation projects in Canada. He regularly advises companies and business individuals from Asia seeking to expand their business activities in Canada in a variety of industries.At the early years of his practice, he earned the YBAM’s “Lawyer of the Year” award in civil and commercial litigation. Later, he was named “Top 20 Diversity Personalities of the Year 2013” by the Médiamosaique Press Association, in collaboration with ICI Radio-Canada. Ponora has also been acclaimed in the prestigious Lexpert Rising Star / Top 40 Under 40 in Canada for his legal expertise. Furthermore, he has been recognized by Best Lawyers in Canada for his practice in Construction Law and Lexpert Canada for his expertise in Product Liability. In addition, he was awarded with the Medal of the National Assembly of Québec in honour of his numerous engagements for the society over the years.Ponora continued to be also involved in many committees and boards of directors in Québec, both in business and trade associations as well as for charitable organizations. He also taught business law in a global context as part of the master of laws program of the law faculty (LL.M.) of the University of Montreal and is invited to speak at conferences both in Canada and internationally.He is also frequently called on interviews on TV amd the radio to discuss about topics relating to his expertise. In addition to his professional practice and community involvement, he was also a family caregiver to his late grandmother which was the subject of a special documentary broadcasted by ICI Radio-Canada.
