About Chris Dreibelbis

I have recently started writing about topics I have loved since I was a kid, such as pro wrestling and Star Trek. I am also a seasoned public policy wonk and passionate story teller. I love finding creative ways to communicate ideas and telling stories that engage people to address important policy issues. Working in public policy isn\'t easy or sexy, but it was a calling I couldn\'t ignore. Figuring out how to connect with diverse audiences on complex topics in today\'s political environment has given me a sense of purpose and made me a better communicator. After a stint right out of college working for a law firm cured me of any desire to seek a legal career, I started working at the ground level of a think tank. As I swam up through the tank I recognized that there is no dearth of good ideas or thoughtful people in the community, but there was a serious need for making their work more accessible and conveying its relevance. I found it my calling to fill this niche. My long record in the nonprofit think tank community includes a great deal of work in outreach and communications. In recent years, much of my work has focused on digital media and engagement. Again, I saw a need and an opportunity to engage in an emerging platform and I filled that need through efforts such as an award-winning social media campaign and overseeing the creation of an award-winning interactive tool. I also have significant experience in policy research and analysis and I have worked on a wide variety of issues, such as fiscal policy and the federal budget, energy and climate, campaign finance reform, homeland security, the economy, international trade, immigration, Social Security, health care, education, and governance reform. I received both my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in public policy. All of this has resulted in learning how the political process really works.
