ABOUT PO-JU CHEN

A neuroscientist specializing in neuromodulation for pelvic pain and bladder symptoms with operation room and cystometrogram on-site clinical experiences and rodent surgery preclinical experiences.* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, serve as a bridge between research and clinical teams.* A motivated biomedical researcher leading and executing multiple scientific projects with protocol and grant writing resulting in 7 publications and multiple conference presentations.[Science] Current work explores off-label use of neuromodulation devices for urinary dysfunction and pelvic pain. Conduct patient interviews to collect their sensations to treatments. The Ph.D. thesis focused on protein dynamics between nerve and muscle. The work involved rodent survival surgery, cell culture, and microscopy.[Managing] Was an organized lab manager including ordering, keeping a supply log, negotiating prices, and learning new techniques to help research.[Mentoring] A passionate instructor. Mentored several undergraduate research projects and taught 4 college-level courses (lecture and lab courses) with 4.88 out of 5 teaching evaluations.[Event planning] Cofounded a non-profit organization with board members in 6 states. Held symposium successfully within a year. Led a 6-person remote promotion team to attract 100+ attendees from 14 states to the first symposium in Chicago. Organized and hosted panel discussions, round tables, and elevator pitch competitions in symposiums annually.
