Responsible for the management and administration of all programs and services of the Division of Fire Prevention and Control (Colorado\'s state fire marshal\'s office, state fire service training office, and wildland fire management agency). Primary duties include: administration, budgeting, strategic planning, technical assistance to fire departments and local governments, overseeing the state’s responsibilities related to wildland fire and prescribed fire, advising the Governor and General Assembly on fire-related issues, and managing relationships with all stakeholder organizations. Responsible for administering a $30 million budget as well as managing wildland firefighting expenditures that exceeded $48 million in 2013.Successfully implemented the consolidation of the state’s wildland fire and prescribed fire programs with the programs and services of the former Division of Fire Safety. The new agency is responsible for building and fire code administration in certain occupancy types, including health care, educational, and gaming facilities, as well as a variety of other fire and life safety regulatory programs; fire service training; and wildland/prescribed fire operations, including wildland fire management (12 regional fire management officers), state fire aviation program, state engine program (16 engines), and maintaining a fleet of 120 call-when-need engines assigned to local jurisdictions.
