ABOUT CHARLES PLATKIN

Dr. Charles Platkin is the founder and Executive Director of the Center For Food As Medicine & Longevity (FoodMedCenter.org), a nonprofit bridging traditional medicine and food-as-medicine approaches in disease prevention, treatment, and management. The Center conducts extensive research on longevity and healthspan, exploring how nutrition and lifestyle interventions extend both lifespan and healthy years, while disseminating peer-reviewed information on nutrition, longevity science, and healthy aging.A distinguished scholar in public health, nutrition, and food policy, Dr. Platkin is a Distinguished Lecturer (Emeritus) at City University of New York at Hunter College with a Ph.D. in Public Health specializing in nutrition, a Master of Public Health, and a law degree. His career reflects a multidisciplinary approach encompassing law, public health, and nutrition.Dr. Platkin served as Executive Director of the Hunter College NYC Food Policy Center from 2012 to 2023, playing a pivotal role in shaping New York City food policy. His entrepreneurial leadership spans multiple sectors: co-founder and strategic advisor to Diversion Books; Chief Strategy Officer at PopCom Health; founder and managing director of Magoo Properties; and co-founder and director of MedicalBx, which develops boutique hospitals and mobile medical clinics for underserved areas.He has published in peer-reviewed journals including the Journal of Nutrition Education and Behavior, Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, and BMC Obesity. He is the author of eight books, including the forthcoming Eat to Cheat Death: Using Food as Medicine to Live Better, Live Stronger, Live Healthier, and Live Longer (HCI, 2027). His first book, Breaking the Pattern, became a bestseller used by addiction clinics and over 20 universities to teach behavioral change techniques.Dr. Platkin was cited by the New York State Governor for contributions to nutrition education and honored as a Politics of Food honoree by City & State. He hosted WE TV\'s I Want To Save Your Life and wrote the syndicated Diet Detective column appearing in over 150 media outlets for nearly 20 years.He received his undergraduate degree from Cornell University, law degree from Fordham University, and MPH and Ph.D. from Florida International University.
