His primary NHS clinical interest is in oncoplastic & microvascular breast reconstruction. He also specialises in reconstruction of oncological defects following skin cancer, head and neck cancer, sarcoma, and colorectal malignancy. His private practice is centred around aesthetic breast surgery, and body contouring at Manchester Plastic Surgery, and reconstructive breast and cancer surgery at The Alexandra Hospital & The Christie Private Care. He is currently the BAPRAS UK National Flap Registry Lead and Quality Lead for Plastic Surgery at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust. Ben is on the UK GMC Specialist Register for Plastic Surgery and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. He is a member of the British & American Associations of Plastic Surgeons (BAPRAS & ASPS), the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS) and the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (ISAPS). He has previously worked at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre in Melbourne, Australia, as a Consultant Plastic Surgeon following completion of an advanced fellowship in reconstructive oncology. Ben has also completed a nationally appointed Oncoplastic Breast Surgery Training Interface Group Fellowship, enabling him to practice resectional and reconstructive breast cancer surgery. Prior to this he completed his Specialty Training across the North West of the UK. Ben has completed an MBA (with Strategic Health and Social Care), and has completed a Health Education England Leadership Fellowship. He has a PGCert in Medical Education and has served on BAPRAS Council, BAPRAS Education Committee, the Specialty Advisory Committee for Plastic Surgery, and The Cosmetic Surgery Training Oversight Committee. He is a Past-President of the Plastic Surgery Trainees Association (PLASTA UK); and led the organisation through the COVID-19 pandemic and a period of unparalleled growth in 20β’β’β’β’21. His current research interests include patient reported outcomes in breast reconstruction, enhanced recovery, and surgical training.
