IT Service Delivery Manager @Liverpool City Region Combined Authority

View department →

I manage and lead three key IT teams within LCRCA IT: the IT Service Desk: IT Operations; and Infrastructure Solutions. Our area of IT is responsible for maintaining the network, data centres, servers and systems in a very diverse estate (Tunnels, a Police Service, Ferries, City Region Combined Authority, etc). Our key aim is \"keeping the lights on\". We have a strong focus on proactive tasks and carry out preventative maintenance to reduce the impact and number of reactive incidents. We handle incidents and service requests at all lines of support from first point of contact to 2nd/3rd line to engaging with 3rd parties or subject matter experts in our Solutions teams. I oversee the IT Capital Budget and play an active role in the organisation\'s Business Continuity, Net Zero and OD & Wellbeing Forums. I am also a Mental Health First Aider and a Wellbeing Champion.

ABOUT ALAN BARTON

I began my working life, back in 1990. It was a different age, well obviously, it was a long time ago. At that time I knew I wanted to work with Data and Computers. To do this I needed to learn and study as I worked and by the mid-1990s I had achieved my goal at a real turning point in the history of \"IT\". I have been learning ever since then. I have taken on a lot of knowledge on and for practical reasons I have shed a lot (like how the RBO worked in early versions of Oracle) to make space for new stuff and with IT there is always new stuff. As an IT Manager, I am now less technical and more committed to maintaining a high standard of IT Service Delivery that has a positive impact on the business. My knowledge has diversified from complex databases, developing proactive maintenance and technical support to Budget Management overseeing IT Capital spend and forecasting over a 5 year period. I am also actively contributing to Business Continuity, Net Zero and Wellbeing Forums and Initiatives in the organisation.
