I became an engineering leader because I care about two things equally: the people building the product and the customers using it.Today, as Director of Engineering at LegalZoom, I lead the SMB-DIY organization — ~35 engineers responsible for the core customer journey, from a first-time entrepreneur discovering LegalZoom to staying compliant years later. This group owns a significant portion of company revenue, operating at the intersection of growth, product, platform, and partnerships.Over the past year, my focus has been on driving measurable business impact while improving how we build- Delivered revenue-generating products with clear customer and business outcomes- Increased delivery velocity without compromising quality- Scaled AI adoption from early exploration to 100% active usage across the engineering team in under 90 days, making it a core part of how we ship softwareWhat I find most meaningful, though, is building systems that last- Creating clarity in ambiguous spaces- Developing engineers into managers and leaders- Establishing operating cadences that enable teams to move fast sustainablyI’m particularly interested in inflection points—when a team adopts a new way of working and it becomes the default. Whether that’s AI adoption or execution discipline, those shifts compound over time.Over 15+ years, I’ve grown from an individual contributor at VMware and Mozilla to staff engineer and engineering leader roles at Intuit, and now leading multi-team organizations. That journey shapes how I lead today: staying close enough to the technology to guide decisions, while creating space for teams to own and execute.
