ABOUT PIYUSH SHARMA
Scientist | Immunology | Immunometabolism | Tumor Immunotherapy | T-cell BiologyMy journey into science began with a curiosity about gene therapy and the gene gun—concepts that sparked a deep interest in understanding how biology can be harnessed to solve real-world challenges. That curiosity turned into purpose as I pursued a Master’s in Genetics, which led me to move abroad for the first time to dive into the world of immunology in Germany.During my PhD, I investigated host factors critical for antigen replication and immune response. I also contributed to pioneering work in arenavirus-mediated tumor immunotherapy, laying the groundwork for the establishment of the biotech startup “Abalos”. These experiences not only sharpened my scientific skills but also gave me the chance to collaborate across international teams, broadening my view of translational immunology and scientific impact. As I explored immune mechanisms further, I became fascinated by the emerging field of immunometabolism—specifically, how nutrients and metabolism shape immune function. This interest led me to join Dr. Douglas Green’s lab at St. Jude Children\'s Research Hospital, where I now study T-cell metabolism and how the tumor microenvironment influences immune responses.Today, I’m driven by the goal of enhancing cancer immunotherapy by bridging fundamental immune biology with therapeutic innovation. Whether it\'s exploring metabolic pathways, discovering new immune regulators, or collaborating across disciplines, I’m always looking for the next opportunity to push the boundaries of what’s possible in immunology.Let’s connect if you’re passionate about tumor immunology, metabolism, or collaborative science.#immunometabolism #immunology #tumorimmunology #Tcell #Translationalscience
