About Mark Garcia

Mark began his IT career 25 years ago, starting his own small business repairing and custom building computers for homes and small offices. In Mark attended Pittsburgh Technical obtaining a degree in Computer and Networking Systems. After graduating, he became an advisory board member to the school, a board which he still sits on today. Beginning his career in Pittsburgh he became a technician at Insync Computers, later taking on a role as a manager. In 2004, Mark joined Stewart Title as a network administrator. The position branched into technical sales, support and installations for Western PA. Shortly after, he assumed the role of Regional SOX Compliance Manger, serving all of the northeast United States. He later advanced to serve at a national level, responsible for Technology Business Plans, Business Continuity Plans and implementing process improvements through technology for the entire country. In 2008, Mark joined U. S. Steel as a Landesk administrator with a focus on hardware independent imaging. In 2011, he moved to a new team, supporting many enterprise applications, such as WebSphere. For the past year his focus has realigned with IT security and is currently heading up the deployment, configuration and management of a DLP solution and Data Classification. In addition to this significant task Mark has been supporting and managing firewalls, proxies, and working with several 3rd party vendors on intrusion detection. Continuing this focus, in 2016 Mark began working with HMHS filling the role of Senior Security Engineer again focusing on Data Loss Prevention. Once completing the deployment, Mark took on a management role and has been building out the Data Protection team and tools since.
