WORK HISTORY
Research Strategist Nzbc School Built Environment Lsbu @Bsria Lsbu Net Zero Building Centre
London, GB
My specialism is systems change and root cause analysis, particularly within the context of markets, go-to-market strategies, and the interface between those markets and human behaviour. My academic research for the LSBU Net Zero Building Centre mainly focuses on driving the retrofit research agenda and building a body of research around retrofit market development - from consumer insights, to market formation, to skills and sector growth or education. Having evaluated the market as a whole eco-system rather than just a technical /engineering challenge, I defined a new approach to market segmentation, identifying 2 distinct channels (public-procured & private-purchased) each with different routes to market, supply chains, & stages of maturity. This resulted in several papers on retrofit market formation and retrofit skills. I helped develop LSBU\'s Net Zero Short Courses & co-presented a Summer NZ Masterclass. Recently completed consumer research with Innovate to Renovate Partnership in Gloucestershire and South Gloucestershire, gave valuable insights into the private-purchase segment barriers and motivators to retrofit - full paper pending. Research conducted into resident engagement in retrofit among social housing landlords, and communicating retrofit to residents resulted in a toolkit (shortlisted for an award) I am now delivering a series of workshops to help Local Authorities and Housing Associations become Retrofit Ready and developing the toolkits further. I am engaged across the sector in various work groups to further retrofit skills development. I voluntarily convene a Retrofit Skills & Apprenticeships group, consulting the sector to define a retrofit skills pathway and influence skills development. These roundtables have instigated a Retrofit Coordinator Apprenticeship with IfATE. I am currently interim co-chair of the National Retrofit Hub Skills Group, conducting retrofit skill mapping and situational analysis.
