ABOUT PIP DENNIS

I started my OT career as an assistant supporting people at home with aids and adaptations. Since qualifying as an OT in 2010 I have worked in a regaining independence team providing up to 6 weeks goal setting and rehabilitation. I then joined the moving and handling team as an advisor covering schools, adult day centres and supporting the OTs with complex assessments. I progressed to a senior moving and handling advisor assessing children and adults for equipment, competing complex risk assessments, training staff, and training OTs During this time I worked as a specialist advisor in a safeguarding team investigating moving and handling related safeguardings in care homes. I have presented at the National Back Exchange conference about my work around safeguarding and moving and handling, and also at the disabled living foundation conference on slings. Currently I am a team manager for a community OT team who support adults in their own homes to increase their independence via equipment, adaptations and advice
