About Adeline Pinyu Liao
Adeline (Pinyu) Liao is the founder and CEO of Niora Systems, building the financial and procurement rails that make access to essential medicines predictable and investable across emerging markets. She began this work after losing her grandmother in rural Taiwan to a preventable bacterial infection—an inflection point that set her on a multi-year path to redesign how the world distributes medicine. Before founding Niora, Adeline spent several years researching antimicrobial resistance and pharmaceutical supply chains, earning recognition at the International Science & Engineering Fair, the Regeneron Science Talent Search, and the MIT Research Science Institute (RSI). At 16, she directed a documentary on antibiotic resistance that was selected by the World Health Organization’s Health for All Film Festival. She also founded Lavender + Lab Coats, a STEM publication reaching readers in more than 138 countries.Adeline is now studying Computer Science (Computational Biology) and Economics at Stanford University, where she became the youngest speaker at TEDxStanford 2024. She has conducted research under Nobel Laureate Dr. Carolyn Bertozzi and worked in laboratories at the University of Cambridge and Harvard Medical School. She also spent time in investment banking at Mirae Asset Securities in Seoul, focusing on fintech and emerging market financial structures. Her work sits at the intersection of health systems, financial infrastructure, and industrial policy. Through Niora Systems, she aims to build the procurement backbone that will allow emerging markets to secure reliable medicine access through better-designed market incentives, payment stability, and institutional systems built for scale.
