I obtained my PhD on adaptive immunity where he defined CD4T cell activation by a costimulatory molecule, which was derived from B cells. During my PhD I also worked on B cell-mediated CD8T cell and macrophage-mediated CD4 T cell activation. My post-doctoral study was mainly on innate immunity, where I worked on PBMC-derived NK cells with special emphasis on Primary Immunodeficiencies and the changes of NK cell surface markers in health and disease conditions. At present, my interest is to study changes in immune markers on therapeutic cells before and after these cells are infused into the patients, and also during the treatment. I am further interested to learn how the immune cells from the body of the patients change over time and relating these changes to the response of the therapy. For these in-depth immune-correlative studies, I imply most of the aspects of flow cytometry. In brief, I design and sets up 15 + color panels on conventional flow cytometers to get an overall idea of the immune markers. Side by side, using a Spectral flow-cytometer I also establish 30+ color panels and analyze the distribution of the expression of the markers on single cell basis. Further to see the localization of the markers in and/or on the surface of the cells I also use the imaging flow cytometer and develops algorithms to analyze those data. I am interested in single-cell genomics and have established a method in the laboratory to study the immune cells on a single cell level by a combination of flow cytometry and molecular biology-based method. Moreover, at present, I am also working on RNA sequencing on a single-cell level.

ABOUT PINAKI P. BANERJEE

I am a PhD level immunologist with 20 years of experience in translational research while working at top rankings hospitals of the world such as the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, Texas Children’s Hospital and MD Anderson Cancer Center. I am an excellent team member and leader with successful record of achievements while working with clinical, research, Bioinformatics, and technical teams from various organizations. In addition to my management experience, I also completed the LEADing Self training as suggested by MD Anderson Cancer Center.I have equal expertise in immunotherapy and clinical research management. I participated in various Phase I clinical trials (14 clinical trials are ongoing at present) and developed flow cytometry, molecular biology and confocal microscopy based assays to predict the treatment responses or to define the mechanism of action (MOA) of biomarkers and/or therapeutics (Pharmacodynamics, PD and Companion Diagnostics, CDx) tested. I published my work in top ranking journals. Along with in the area of infectious diseases and inflammatory diseases, I also work in the area of CAR NK cell-mediated therapy of cancer, with special emphasis in biomarker development and published the findings in peer-reviewed Journals.
