ABOUT ANAND PILLAI
I’m a Planning Engineer/Scheduler (title may vary depending on region) with about 10 years of experience in construction, primarily focused on scheduling for large-scale building projects. Currently, I work as a Scheduler for Multiplex Constructions Canada in Toronto, where I’ve been since late 2022.I began my planning/scheduling career in the UAE in 2015 as a Planning Engineer, serving as the lead planner for the MEP team on the Dubai Parks and Resorts – Lapita Hotel Project. I also supported my firm on other projects, including villas and residential buildings. During this time, I spent extensive hours in Primavera P6 and MS Project, creating schedules, tracking progress, analyzing delays, and collaborating with teams to resolve issues before they escalated.After that, I worked on a major project in Abu Dhabi with Multiplex Middle East, followed by a role at Pico International as a Program Manager for multiple projects which included the Peru, Brazil, Czech Republic Pavilions at Expo 2020 Dubai. Later, I supported a utility contractor as a Scheduling Consultant for Etihad Rail.In November 2022, I moved to Toronto, Canada, and have since been managing schedules for various residential, industrial and commercial construction projects with Multiplex Construction Canada.Today, I handle multiple project schedules across the Greater Toronto Area, including major civic centers and recreational facilities in Kitchener-Waterloo—an exciting IPD (Integrated Project Delivery) project. My role involves managing project schedules to prevent clashes and minimize delays. I’m comfortable handling complex projects, including those exceeding CAD 500M. I’m confident in building and updating master schedules, identifying issues early and collaborating solutions, and performing delay analysis when projects go off track. I also create clear, concise reports for clients, subcontractors, and management.I keep things practical and prioritize generating real value for projects and businesses.
